(Really it is windows 98, but I have disabled the Windows GUI.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Helvetica\">My <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mamenation.com\/Download\/AUTOEXEC.BAT\">autoexec.bat <\/a>file has a menu system that gives you four choices:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Helvetica\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Helvetica\"><strong>Arcade Cabinet<\/strong> &#8211; Loads the AdvanceMenu front end<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Helvetica\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Helvetica\"><strong>DOS<\/strong> &#8211; Drops you at the DOS prompt<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Helvetica\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Helvetica\"><strong>Windows<\/strong> &#8211; Loads the Win98 GUI.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Helvetica\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Helvetica\"><strong>Shutdown<\/strong> &#8211; Calls a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mamenation.com\/Download\/ATXOFF.zip\">freeware DOS utility<\/a> that powers off the PC<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Helvetica\">I could not stand AdvanceMenu&#8217;s hideous default white and baby blue scheme. Here is a screenshot of my new, improved color scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mamenation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2008\/05\/img_1425.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-16\" title=\"img_1425\" src=\"http:\/\/mamenation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2008\/05\/img_1425-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Helvetica\">When you exit AdvanceMenu you are brought back to the menu. I usually only go into Windows when I need to transfer files to\/from the cabinet over the network. This arrangement works out very well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Helvetica\">It took quite a while for me to get my sound card working in DOS. (I am getting rusty with my DOS configuration skills.) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mameworld.net\/dosmame\/\">This site<\/a> was a great help.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Helvetica\">One day when I get a little free time I would like to experiment with the Linux versions as well.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Update &#8211; 5\/2008 The information below is out of date.
